Although the banter between P-3 and Charles really never ceases, Charles still manages to be a more effective storyteller than Cuff.Īside from being an uninspired storyteller, Cuff has plenty of other things working against him. ![]() While many other games, especially RPGs, provide lore and information to the player through notes and signs scattered throughout a game's world, Charles almost single-handedly takes the role of a talking codex that helps the player understand the characters, enemies, and environment of Atomic Heart's world. ![]() Their relationship does improve, albeit insignificantly throughout the story, as P-3 begins showing signs of respect and trust for his glove companion in his questions and occasional vulnerability.Ĭharles frequently helps P-3 understand who he is working for, who he is fighting against, and what events may be happening behind the scenes, not only assisting the game's main character, but the player as well. Just as Frey jokingly refers to her companion as "Cuff" when he repeatedly grumbles that he wishes to be called "Vambrace," P-3 sarcastically jabs at Charles by referring to him as "Glove" early on. When P-3 and Charles are first introduced to one another, they have a difficult time getting along - they insult one another, doubt one another's intentions, and have an overall attitude of disdain. The relationship between Charles and Atomic Heart's protagonist, P-3, is very much like the relationship between Cuff and Frey in Forspoken. ![]()
